Women’s Freestyle Maverick Sarah Burke Dies at 29
Today the world lost a female sports pioneer. Sarah Burke crashed during a training session on January 10 in Park City, Utah and today passed away due to cardiac arrest after complications resulting from the injury. Sarah was a multiple X-Games champion and led the campaign to have ski halfpipe included in the Winter Olympics, a campaign that was successful after the event was added to the Sochi 2014 Games.
Rest in peace Sarah. The thoughts and prayers of the entire CEP Canada team are with those who have loved and lost Sarah.
The Burke family set up a site for those wishing to make a donation in Burke’s honour. A balance of US$550,000 remains for outstanding medical costs and related expenses since Sarah’s accident. For more information, check out her Give Forward Page.
